Local Historic Sites & Information
Gaithersburg Community Museum | Located in the restored railroad freight house, the museum features educational exhibits, old pictures and much more!
Montgomery County Historical Society | A great place for information on Montgomery County history. Everyone interested in local history and historic sites should visit the Jane Sween Library in Rockville. It's located in the carriage house at the historic Beall-Dawson home and they have drawers of old photographs, seperated by city. The library also contains old books, newspapers, cemetery & church records, maps and videos.
HistoricAerials.com | Another one of my favorite sites! You can view old aerial images taken by the USDA, which were used to assess farm properties. Not all counties and states have aerials that date back very far, but fortunately, this site has plenty of historic aerials from Montgomery County, Maryland.
The Library of Congress | The LOC digital collections contain tons of high-resolution quality images from the past. Just do a search on your local town or state and see what comes up - you'd be surprised.
The Mills of Seneca Creek | A study of all the mills that were located along Seneca Creek.
A Fine Collection | A weekly artifact from the Montgomery County Historical Society.
Montgomery County Cemeteries | Inventory of the cemeteries in MoCo. I thought this was interesting... scroll down to Gaithersburg and check out the Briscoe family cemetery.
Old Bethesda | High quality photographs of Bethesda taken by professional photographer, Hugo Brooks, from the 1930s to the 1980s.
Gaithersburg: The History | Videos tell the story of Gaithersburg's history. Produced by the City of Gaithersburg.

The Gazette | Gaithersburg as well as Maryland community news.
The Town Courier | A local newspaper, mainly serving the Kentlands and Lakelands.
